Vista 2024 R1...Finally!!!
My favorite features of the Vista 2024 R1 release

Vista 2024 R1 is finally here and I'm excited to review some of the major enhancements being made available with this release. Now, you might be wondering why 2024 took so long to arrive and is just now being released in the beginning of 2025. Short story, Trimble re-vamped the Sales/Use tax feature for Service Management and it was a HUGE undertaking that affected many programs and reports.
As you and I already know, Sales Tax reporting is a beast and while Vista's handling of Sales tax for Job Cost was great, Service Management just wasn't getting the Sales Tax love it needed. The developers had to tear apart the Sales Tax handling in SM which rippled down to AP and PO and caused all sorts of havoc. Thankfully, the developers decided to not release a half-baked product. Instead, they put in a lot of hard work and testing into the Sales Tax improvements for SM. If you are using Service Management, you'll definitely want to pay attention to the Sales Tax enhancements as it will likely make your job much easier.
Other enhancements include an Auto-Update for Aatrix and the expanded ability to use 4 digit years in fields that accept either a date or an accounting month.
Accounts Payable has a new feature to make it easier to create invoices from PO's and SL Subcontracts. There is now a field in the header to hold the PO or SL just like the Job Number. This makes it easier to Initialize from PO and also sets up Automatic Invoicing to capture PO information from an AP invoice and insert it on the AP invoice or AP Unapproved Invoice. A little birdy told me that Trimble is working to get Automatic Invoicing to also fill in the details section of an invoice if a PO is present. It's great that the Vista developers are active and continually finding ways to improve the software.
Job Billing is getting a little love with Bill Control Options. The ability to define who can edit or delete JB Bills, particularly in closed months, is a welcome new feature.
HR is finally catching up to the times by providing support for Electronic OSHA 300/300A/301 reporting. Another Excel spreadsheet you can toss thanks to this new feature. And if you are in South Carolina, Vista PR now handle SOC codes for UI reporting.
ProjectSight and Vista continue to tighten their integration and improve data flow between the two systems. PO & SL creation and approval workflows are not only more robust but now also flow into Vista's PM module for increased visibility in the back office.
Service Management got a huge lift in addition to the Tax improvements. I don't even want to list all the improvements here. Check out the link at the bottom of the article for all of the improvements that were made to Service Management and other modules.
A previous blog we published mentioned Trimble ID and the push to get rid of Vista classic id logins. 2024 R1 is improving on making Trimble ID the seamless single sign on that will reduce the number of logins and passwords needed to access the wide variety of Trimble products and websites.
With this major release, there have been a few database changes. If you've written custom reports or procedures, you'll be interested to read what changes were made to the database to ensure your custom reports will not be affected. You can review all of the enhancements and fixes included in this update here.
